[Review] Labello Vanilla Buttercream

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews | Leave a comment

Labello has just released a new treat for our lips and this one has a gorgeous vanilla fragrance and buttercream texture – Labello Vanilla Buttercream. The Vanilla Buttercream lip balm contains Shea Butter and natural oils and definitely moisturizes deeply.   It’s kind of in between their Hydro version which is less creamy and their Sun Protect which is much thicker.    The Labello Vanilla Buttercream spreads beautifully and moisturizes for a long time.   The Labello Vanilla Buttercream retails for R24,99 and you can get them from Dischem, Clicks, and most leading retailers.   RubyBox currently has a wonderful competition running in conjunction with Labello and some amazing food bloggers, where you can WIN R2500! All you need to do is choose which recipe you like most and you could be a winner. Click HERE to enter.   I think this is my new favourite Labello, perfect texture and smells like ice cream! Enjoy 🙂

Half head vs Full head of highlights

Posted on by Anouschka in Reviews, Spa Reviews | Leave a comment

I’m lucky enough to enjoy a relaxing visit to Style Bar in Constantia every couple of months to fix my dark roots.    To save time and money, I’ve been doing only a half head of highlights, but it was definitely time to invest in a full head of highlights again.   I’m super impressed that  a full head of highlights, wash, dry and trim took less than 2 1/2 hours. Even though I always enjoy catching up and relaxing with a cup of coffee and a good book, after a while I do start getting ‘ants in my pants’ as my husband calls it 😉   Admittedly I had left it a bit too long this time, and chatting with my stylist, if you want to save some money, then I think we can get away with doing a half head twice and then definitely invest in a full head of highlightsRead More

And remember, Nak is vegan-friendly, sulphate and paraben free too.     And lastly Scalp To Hair has a range for thicker fuller hair and for people suffering from dry scalp this is a super product.       For all your product needs contact either Style Bar or shopRead More

[Review & Give Away] Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews | Leave a comment

I’ve just received these Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour from Rubybox to test and review.   The Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour range comes in fifteen shades. I have twelve of the shades featured here in this post. The three that are missing are Blue Iris (Blue), Shadow (Grey) and Black but not sure if they will be sold in SA.    The colours I tested range from a very natural beige to an extreme purple with a wide range of pinks and corals in between.   I’ve been trying out a few long wearing lipsticks recently so was very eager to give these a try as well.   They promise a comfortable, velvet finish with one swipe colour, which I will test out. I’ll also do the ‘Torture Test’: kiss proof, water proof, touch proof, and does it last 12 hours.     Pigment Each colour has a very richRead More

[Review] Aura Skincare Clinic – Parkhurst

Posted on by Nikki Temkin in Reviews, Spa Reviews | Leave a comment

Aura skincare is one of my go-to salons— I have my nails done there occasionally—they do a sterling job and the experience is always very pleasant. Nestled in Parkhurst, the salon is elegant and comfortable.     So, it was, of course, a no-brainer when I was offered a !QMS Medicosmetics Neo Tissudermie Treament.  The skincare line is award-winning and I have always wanted to to try a facial. Dr. Schulte, the creator of these products, combined his passion for science with his vast experience whilst working as a surgeon in the fields of trauma and cosmetic surgery, to continually evolve the effectiveness of skincare. He sees the future of skincare as being interlinked with the development of modern technologies used to transport the ingredients deep into the epidermal layer.     Glynne, the lovely owner, who also did my treatment, assured me that my skin would not “overreact” toRead More

Style Bar Latest Promo

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews | Leave a comment

I’ve just come back from my appointment at Style Bar in Constantia and have to share their latest specials with you.   Firstly, I was treated to the nak ultimate treatment 60 sec repair, which is amazing. The main reason I tend to skip treatments at home is because you have to leave it in for so long, and with the water restrictions we’re having in Cape Town, that’s just not manageable. So this is an absolute must have item as it works in 60 seconds and leaves your hair super soft.      Right now, you can choose from any of the following Luxury Highlights or Colour Promotion:   Short tint cut and blow R990 Long tint cut and blow R1190 1/2 highlight cut and blow R1190 Full highlight cut and blow R1390   All the above specials include the nak treatment at the basin, plus a full retail size to takeRead More

[Review] Skin & Nail Lounge

Posted on by Nikki Temkin in Reviews, Spa Reviews | Leave a comment

A while ago I reviewed a superb and award-winning salon which I often  frequent for facials and products called Professional Skin in Partktown North. Since then, I discovered that its brilliant owner Gina Gall has another salon in Bryanston.     Many years ago when I was struggling with breakouts on my forehead area, I has some microdermabrasion treatments. However, I had not experienced it for a very long time, until I was invited to Skin & Nail Lounge. Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.     This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discolouration, sun damage and even stretch marks. It’s sort of like an intense exfoliation— it removes the outer, superficial layer of skin cells. For someone like me, who suffers from dry skin and flaking, it’s extremely exciting to have itRead More

[Review] 3D Fiber Lashes

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews | Leave a comment

I was sent the 3D Fiber Lashes by Rubybox to test and review and was truly excited and curious to find out what this product was all about and if it could give me awesome lashes.   I have the shortest little lashes, and after trying extensions for a while, I eventually had to stop as I started getting an allergic reaction to the glue.     The 3D Fiber Lashes comes with a gel and 3D Fibers applicators.  How to apply: Ensure that your eye lashes are clean, dry and free from any mascara Apply 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara to one eye at a time First apply Gel from mid eyelash to the end/tips Second (while the Gel is wet) apply the fibers from mid eyelash to the tips Third seal the eyelashes with a coat of Gel You may repeat this process until the desired effectRead More

What Is A Collagen Supplement?

Posted on by Anouschka in Anti-Aging, Beauty & Body, Product Reviews, Reviews, Skin Care | Leave a comment

Collagen is a structural component of skin, providing elasticity, as well as skin cell renewal, to keep skin looking plump and youthful. It is also found in our bones, muscles and tendons as well as hair and nails.   In our youth our skin is made up of 80 percent collage, but as we age, collagen breaks down at about 1 percent a year, and our bodies ability to produce new collagen slows down, leading to a loss of plumpness in the skin and an increase in wrinkles.   Collagen is an ingredient in many skincare brands, but some dermatologists say its molecules are too big to penetrate the skin to be really effective.   Collagen supplements claim to rejuvenate the skin, but from the inside out, as you take them orally. The collagen is broken down into amino acids, and absorbed and distributed internally, improving the skin all over your body, asRead More

New Brands At Style Bar

Posted on by Anouschka in Latest News, Reviews, Spa Reviews | Leave a comment

We all love visiting our hair dresser for a much needed bi-monthly highlight, colour or trim, as it always makes us not only look but feel soooo much better.   Another awesome bonus about visiting Style Bar is that they are continuously testing and introducing new ranges to their offering. Here are a few hot new lines that they stock along with all our old favourites.               My friend commented on how natural my blonde looks, and asked where I have my hair done. She’d heard of Style Bar before, but didn’t know exactly where it was situated in Constantia.     So for those of you who are also curious, Style Bar is situated in the Constantia Village Courtyard. It’s not in the main shopping center, but the smaller center where you’ll find Clicks and Standard Bank etc.   Contact Style BarShop 14Constantia Village CourtyardConstantiaRead More
