What’s the difference between a Beauty Salon and an Aesthetics Clinic?

While skin care and beauty treatments are at the forefront of both, the biggest difference between a Beauty Salon and an Aesthetics Clinic is the treatments that you can expect to receive there.

A Beauty Salon’s focus is more about pampering and include your classic beauty and grooming treatments (facials, massages, mani/pedi, waxing and other signature treatments), while anyone working in aesthetics is more concerned and trained in anti-aging. Even though they will probably still take care of your waxing and pedi needs, their main focus is on turning back the clock with treatments like facial and chemical peels, photo rejuvenation, dermal fillers and Botox.

This does not mean however, that a clinic needs to feel like a doctor’s office. JUST SKIN AESTHETIC CLINIC is as elegant and lovely as its owner Carol Maccallum who has been in the skin care industry for over 25 years with previous well renowned salons in both Durban and Johannesburg. Specialising in skin rejuvenation, JUST SKIN introduces us to innovative skin and beauty treatments using the most up-to-date techniques and products available both locally and internationally.

They also offer laser hair removal – which is so on my Christmas and Birthday list – and stock my favourite skin care products like Dr Brandt, Bioderma and Neostrata.
