I was sent the latest Lipidol sunscreen oil with SPF 20 to test and review, which arrived at exactly the right time, just Summer in Cape Town.   Even though it’s an oil, which usually triggers thoughts of sunburn, rather than sun protection, this protects your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, while supplementing your skin’s natural oily layer at the same time.     I was happy to note that it does absorb quickly but it does still feel a bit oily if you apply a lot. So apply sparingly if you’re going to the beach for example. However, saying that, my son was rolling in the sand and I managed to wipe off most of the sand before he got into the car, so it’s probably similar to creamy sunscreens.   My skin felt really moisturized at the end of the day, and no sunburn inRead More

African Extracts Rooibos just sent me some of their  Advantage Range of products to test and review. I usually like to use products I’m sent without researching them too much at first, to get a real feel for the products without being influenced by price or other people’s opinions.     Even though I do quite a bit of research when it comes to beauty products, I’ve never studied the science behind it, so I really like to go on gut feel as well. I tend to find that some products stay at the front of the shelf and I tend to reach for them on a daily basis, while others slowly migrate to the back of the cupboard, because they lack the Wow! factor in my opinion.   My initial feeling towards the African Extracts Rooibos Advantage Range is very positive. I love that it’s a local brand,Read More

Gold Elements I received 3 full sized products from Gold Elements in the United States to test and review.    All their products contain 24K gold powder which has several great skin care properties, which include anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, improves blood circulation and reduces the production of melanin. The gorgeous gold powder also makes the product glow beautifully as well.   Apart from the gold powder, they focus on using a host of wonderful products like, chamomile, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Witch Hazel, Sweet Almond oil and Jojoba. These all work towards hydrating the skin, reducing find lines, even discoloration, interrupt free radical damage, soften the skin and help promote the growth of new skin cells.    Phew what more can we ask for?   Well, actually, they’re also serious about excluding any parabens, animal derivatives, mineral oil and artificial colours.    Gold Elements offers different lines of products for different ages and price ranges.Read More

I do love the fold up ballet flats, and sneakers are always a great choice. I found some really gorgeous ballet flats at Cocorose London. What’s your ‘go to’ travel shoe?
