I want to quickly share with you, what I got in the November RubyBox.   Due to the truck strikes, I received my beauty box quite late this month and I had read a few grumbles on the Rubybox Facebook page as this must have affected quite a few deliveries.   However, I have been so busy that I honestly had not even noticed how fast time had flown by and was pleasantly surprised when the courier rang my doorbell.   If you don’t know what you can expect to receive every month from your Rubybox subscription, then stick around and I’ll show you exactly what November’s box contained.     Click here if you want to subscribe to Rubybox:    What’s in the box?   1) R100 5Rooms coupon – haven’t shopped there yet – so keen to check it out.     2) R20 off Piz BuinRead More

Marios Company For Hair – Review & Give-Away

Posted on by Anouschka in Reviews, Spa Reviews | 25 Comments
The end result!

As you can probably imagine, I don’t usually write reviews on hair, as it is such a personal experience, that you tend to stay with the same hair dresser for years (well forever really), as you don’t want to risk anything going wrong.   However, when Barry invited me to put my tired tresses in Marios experienced hands I jumped at the chance. I have friends who rave about him, and having kept a close eye on his Facebook page, his reputation of making women feel gorgeous, definitely preceded him.   Walking into Marios Company For Hair is a little bit like waking up on Christmas morning. You’re excited and nervous at the same time, as you know that there will be presents under the tree, but you have to wait in anticipation to unwrap them and see what you received.     Marios has been in this stunning loftRead More

Esse – Cocoa Exfoliator   I’ve recently had the pleasure of trying the Esse (which means ‘to be’ in Latin) Cocoa Exfoliator, and being a complete chocoholic, this was something I was definitely looking forward to testing.   Esse is a South African company (yay proud!) that is not only a leader in the development of natural and organic products, all Esse products are100% preservative free, biodegradable and free of parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrance and synthetic colourants. I’m also in love with the packaging, as they use glass containers, which is upmarket while maintaining a natural look & feel.   If you are looking for a great product that is certified organic, accredited by Beauty Without Cruelty and endorsed by the Vegan Society, then look no further – Esse is your perfect match.   Esse also supports fair trade by purchasing from rural women’s cooperatives that are members of PhytoTrade AfricaRead More

Have you heard of the Beauty Spoon?   New to South Africa, this cosmetic tool can be used to remove all the remaining product from nearly empty bottles and containers.   It’s ergonomic handle, flexible stem & contoured spoon, makes it easy to retrieve every bit of liquid and cream from those pesky hard to reach places.   Designed by Claudia Hoexter when she couldn’t get to the bottom of an expensive serum she’d purchased, and realised that she most probably wasn’t the only woman with this problem.   Click Here to see Claudia use the beauty spoon on Live Well Network.     Recommended retail price for the single pack is R110 & for the double pack (show above) is R169.   This is definitely going to come in handy, especially with my foundation bottles that drive me insane as you can see all your precious product just sittingRead More

Zoya Nail Polish & Spa Treatments

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews | 3 Comments

I’ve just had the pleasure of meeting Brendan Kader from Zoya SA Nail Polish and Spa Treatments, and he let me play with all the wonderful products that he distributes.   These products are only available through Salons and Spas, so you won’t find them at any retail stores.   He’s busy reaching out to salons & spas throughout South Africa, so hopefully you’ll get to experience them yourself soon. In the meantime, I wanted to share a few of my favourite Zoya products with you.     Firstly I obviously have to tell you about the insane range of nail polish & colours that Zoya offers. There are over 200 colours to choose from and this includes matte, velvet, metallic, shimmer & glitter.   The nail polish dries really quickly and is thin yet very rich in colour, so you don’t need to apply several layers. I did a veryRead More

Posted on by Anouschka in Product Reviews, Reviews, Spa Reviews | 26 Comments

Relax at Elements on Kloof   I’ve been wanting to write a review on Elements on Kloof for a while now, so was excited to visit them again recently.   Having just introduced Gelish to their treatments, I thought that this would be a new & fun topic to write about.   Although Elements on Kloof is obviously on Kloof street, it is a bit of a hidden gem as you won’t necessarily see the signage from the road. They are located on 39 Kloof (opposite Spar & Scar Hair) towards the lower end of Kloof street.   Elements has 8 treatment rooms and 6 therapists, offering your full range of treatments from facials, waxing, mani, pedi, and massage. Body Basics Review

Posted on by Anouschka in Reviews, Spa Reviews | 1 Comment

Liesel from Body Basics invited me to come and view her new treatment room and experience one of her super relaxing massages with an express pedicure.   Having managed her mobile massage company for 5 years, Liesel recently added a treatment room adjacent to her home so that she could also cater for after hours treatments.   I must admit that I did get lost (yes again!) and had to pull out the map book and do a u-turn but I found her home with no further instructions and was greeted warmly at her gate.   The room, though simply decorated, is fresh and neat and you can feel that Liesel is very happy and proud to have her own treatment room to pamper people in.   There is a bathroom with shower facility in which I changed and then got ready for a lovely back, neck & shoulderRead More

Tanvi Nail & Body Bar – Review

Posted on by Nikki Temkin in Reviews, Spa Reviews | 1 Comment

It’s always exciting when a new salon opens in Jozi… and although I have my favourites, I am always keen to discover new places. Illovo Square on Corlett Drive has just been revamped and now houses some lovely new shops including Tanvi Nail & Body Bar. I’m here to try out the signature mani and pedi and most exciting of all, the nail art.     Salon owner Preya Naidoo has created a lovely ambiance with modern furnishings that are slick and yet still comfortable. She explains that Tanvi means “beautiful girl or delicate, pretty girl”. Samantha my therapist is lovely- a good quality in a therapist is the ability to suss out when a client wants to talk and when they just need to chill. My nails and toes have suffered the last few months as with a newborn, I rarely have had time to treat myself to a pedi/mani andRead More

Have You Heard Of Lingerie Letters?

Posted on by Anouschka in Latest News, Product Reviews | Leave a comment

Today I want to share an amazing little secret that I just discovered.   First, let me introduce you to Lily:    If you love Lingerie as much as I do, then you are going to go crazy about Lingerie Letters, as Lily will send you a pretty pair by post every month.   No-one really sends letters anymore, so the only thing we usually receive in the postbox is our monthly bills. Lingerie Letters will make you look forward to seeing the postman as you wait for your little package to be delivered to your door.   As a lingerie subscription service, they playfully take the schlep out of shopping for panties by sending you a pretty pair by post, accompanied with a love letter. With your preferred style in mind (thongs, briefs or surprise me – love that!) you’re in for a sexy surprise every month.   WhetherRead More
