[Review] Elgydium Whitening & Sensitive Toothpaste

I received the Elgydium Whitening and Sensitive toothpastes to review.    I have to be upfront here and tell you that for the last 10 years, I have ONLY used a herbal toothpaste from Europe that is more salty than sweet.  My main concern with testing a toothpaste was that it would be sweet and frothy like most regular types in SA.    I tried the whitening toothpaste first, as I don’t really have sensitive teeth and hey – who wouldn’t want whiter teeth!   I’m very relieved to be able to revert that Elgydium is not super sweet at all.  I have been happily using it, and it isn’t very foamy either. I was very pleasantly surprised. I know that this is a very personal requirement, but I just can’t bear to brush my teeth with a sugary, foamy substance.   I haven’t been using it long enough to see the whiteningRead More

Just before I went overseas I frantically called my local Style Bar in Constantia and begged to be squeezed in, as I really wanted to have my hair done before we left.   Luckily, the had a spot for me and a couple of hours later I was ready to go, and I’m happy to report that my blonder locks received loads of compliments.        Style Bar is always searching for and researching the latest hair care products and again they didn’t disappoint. The latest addition is the label.m range from the well known Toni & Guy brand.    Headed by daughter Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck,label.m is the official hair care brand of London Fashion Week.        The products smells absolutely amazing and the quality is not surprisingly fantastic.    You can get some of these products online at Retailbox, or visit your local Style Bar for a wider range.

[Review] Eau Thermale Avene Hydrating Serum

I’m sure you’ve also experienced that awkward moment when you have a facial and the therapist starts listing all the things wrong with your skin.   The most confusing thing to me is that my skin always seems dehydrated. I use a day and night moisturiser religiously, and am lucky to test different serums, plus I drinks LOADS of water, so I’m sure I’m doing a lot for my skin, yet I’m always told that my skin is dehydrated.   Hydrance Optimale – Hydrating Serum for Dehydrated Sensitive Skin   So this little bottle came at the perfect time for me to review. Firstly, it’s Winter, so my skin is in even more need of TLC, and secondly I’m off to Europe on holiday, and that plane trip doesn’t do anything good for your skin.     Where Does Avene come from? The Avene thermal spring rises in Southern France,Read More

Unless you’ve been hiding under a big rock, then you will know that the latest buzzword in beauty treatments is “natural”. This means using products with the least amount of chemicals that are as close to nature and as organic as possible.     So, this is where YouBar really has set the bar very high (sorry, I could not help myself) as they pride themselves on using all-natural ingredients that are bio-identical, which means avoiding synthetics. Africology products, YouBar’s products of choice, are locally made, and have built up a cult following. It’s no wonder! Not only are they amazingly good for you in every way, but one sniff of their delicious aromatic aroma and you will be hooked forevermore— this I promise you!     I was lucky enough to experience one of the most  divine manicures ever— the Africology Signature Manicure. As a beauty reviewer, I haveRead More

Daily_Cleansing_Milk

In a market saturated with many multitudes of beauty treatments and facials—it’s difficult to find one that truly differentiates itself. But, I truly have!   If you read my reviews then by now you know that my skin is not run-of-the-mill as I suffer from dehydration, sensitivity and also flare-ups of rosacea which means I need a facial that takes all of this into account. I was assured by the Team Dr Joseph professionals that not only would my skin love this facial but that it would also be something completely extraordinary.   It was decided that I would receive the Intense Purifying Face Treatment for a visibly fresher complexion and to bring back vital radiance— yes, I was surely in need of this after a few sleepless nights thanks to a sick child, as well as the onset of winter which meant that my skins was beginning to feel ratherRead More

What better way to cheer yourself up and get out of this gloomy cold weather, than a visit to your friendly hair salon.   I was lucky enough to be squeezed in for a much needed pamper session at my local Style Bar this morning, and it certainly lifted my spirits.     They also stock some of my favourite hair products and styling aids.   Love these bright new Tangle Teezers.   Loads of top hair brands to choose from.   Style Bar Website: http://www.stylebar.co.za/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stylebarsa Twitter: https://twitter.com/stylebarsa

TT - Thick & Curly (2)

There are a handful of hair care products that I LOVE and would recommend to anyone without any hesitation, and the Tangle Teezer is on the top of that list. Thankfully, help is in the palm of your hand with the new Thick & Curly detangling hairbrush specifically designed for thick, curly and afro hair. Finally, this hair type is not too difficultRead More

BVLGARI Omnia Paraiba Review

I’ve just received the latest fragrance by BVLGARI – the 6th perfume in the Omnia for women series. Omnia in the Urban dictionary refers a scale used to describe sheer perfection. Ranging from 1 to Omnia. Omnia being the highest.  This perfume was inspired by one of the most unique gems on earth, the radiant Paraiba Tourmaline of Brazil, which is blue-green in colour.   BVLGARI Omnia Paraiba was developed by perfumer Alberto Morillas. It features notes of Laraha orange, passion fruit and flower, gardenia, sugar cane, vetiver and cacao bean.    It is quite sweet (orange) but not over overpoweringly so. The passion fruit flower also comes through quite strongly.  Omnia Paraiba is a sophisticated warm, sweet fragrance, and makes me yearn for a Summer evening on a beach in Brazil. I love the feeling you get when you walk out of a salon after having your hair done. No matter how ‘ugh’ you might be feeling, when your hair looks good, you just feel infinitely better.   I was lucky enough to be pampered at Style Bar again and discovered a few new products that blew me away.   Firstly, the Nioxin range was used to wash, condition and treat my hair after my highlights. They have some lovely new styling products, which I haven’t tried yet, however, the in salon Intensive Treatment they used is amazing. My hair feels so light and soft and manageable. Really impressed.   And then, Kathi, let me smell some of their Nak products which smell so frikkin awesome, I want it as a perfume. The Aromas Range contains lavender, patchouli and geranium and all their products are sulphate free, paraben free and vegan friendly.  Read More

Spa 88 – JHB Review

mani

If you read my reviews by now you must know of my never-ending quest to unearth the perfect mani/pedi at the top class salons around Jozi. Truth be told, there are so many spas and salons, but not all of them make the grade.     Spa 88 was recommended to me by a friend whom I trust— she spoke of them so highly that I simply had to try it out. Located in possibly the funkiest street in town, Parkhurst’s Fourth Avenue, Spa88 is nestled between Expresso and Egality. I need no excuse to visit Parkhurst so was super eager to have my nails attended to before my December beach holiday. Ragged, scraggly nails would not do for party season, oh no…     Sophisticated and sleek, Spa 88’s decor is simple but striking and the therapists are friendly yet professional. I always like to be helped in choosingRead More

British Fashion Council Celebrates "London Show Rooms LA"

I’ve finally found a hair colour and stylist close to home that I love, so am not about to experiment with anything new for a little while.   However, a good cut can make a huge difference as well, and after swimming so much this Summer, my hair was a little dry, so a good trim was necessary.   Luckily, long bobs are one of the 2016 hair trends to follow this year. Check out some of these gorgeous women rocking the long bob:          My wonderful stylist at Style Bar in Constantia touched up my roots and trimmed all my dead ends into a stylish new long bob for a fresh new look. Loving it!     Style Bar Visit their website to find a Style Bar near you: http://www.stylebar.co.za/
