Daily Dish Review

For once it has nothing to do with beauty. It’s a recipe and ingredients delivery service called Daily Dish.

There are 4 delicious meals delivered each week and you can choose from the following meal type:

  1. Classic menu (includes meat)
  2. Low Carb menu
  3. Vegetarian menu

This includes free delivery to your door on a Monday. I chose the Low Carb menu and here’s my experience.

Service, delivery and packaging were fantastic. The courier arrived on Monday afternoon, and all the ingredients were packaged neatly in a box with a cover letter and beautifully printed recipes to follow.

They advise you to put the ingredients in the fridge immediately, and even give you a suggested order of cooking your meals based on the expiry date of the ingredients.

On Monday we cooked the Tuna Frittatas. They even supplied the muffin cups which was a blessing as I’d left my muffin tray at a cottage on a weekend away.

It took me less than 30 min to prep and then I layed the table while the frittatas were in the oven.

The dish was a real winner and the kids even ate the salad which had an amazing dressing and pine nuts which they love.

On Tuesday we made the Chicken dish, which had a yummy creamy dressing, and luckily my kids love beans so we had another winner on our hands. Daily Dish even added some paper towel to the bottom of the mushroom packet to absorb the moisture, which was also handy to wipe them down. Perfect service once again.

On Wednesday we were in hospital to have grommets for both boys and only came home after 8pm, so we made the steak dish on Thursday instead. All the ingredients were still fresh so it’s nice that you can move things out if/when you have to.

My dad was staying with us, so I was a bit worried that we might not have enough, but as the kids are still small, it was absolutely fine and we all loved this dish. I think this was my husbands favourite, and their appreciation of the sauce was mentioned several times.

 Final Verdict:

We all loved Daily Dish, and for different reasons. My hubby and kids loved eating something new every day. I’m not a great chef, so it was amazing to have everything I needed in the exact amounts, with instructions, making each dish really easy to prepare.

The printed recipes are a winner too, to keep for future meals.

As I mentioned, I don’t really enjoy cooking, so I don’t have loads of ingredients in the house. I tend to stick to the same meals, which I realise are very boring. If I had to go out and buy full bottles of all the ingredients I would spend a lot of money to stock my pantry.  So it was great to get all the spices with each dish, making prep easy and each dish wonderfully different.

My husband and I ‘argued’ a little bit over the cost. At R250 a meal (for 4 people) he says I should be able to buy the ingredients for less. And while I agree to some extent, I don’t have all the spices and sauces in my pantry, plus I don’t have the recipes, and it’s the service of not having decide what to cook and then having to go out buy all the ingredients you need, which makes it worth the price.

I work from home, so I do have time to go to the shops, however, I remember what it was like working a full day job. Now add kids to the mix, and the Daily Dish service is a godsend. No need to rush into a crowded supermarket on your way home and come up with something new to cook that doesn’t get the ‘ah not again’ reaction.

I do still work freelance jobs where I am on location for 3-4 days a week, and I’m never sure what time I will come home.  I’ll definitely be ordering the Daily Dish on those weeks, as I know it will make my life infinitely easier.

Even though there are many food delivery services which I’m sure are great too, what I prefer here, is that you cook the food yourself, so you can make it as spicy as you wish, and it just tastes better when you eat it immediately. I’m surprised to say that I actually enjoyed cooking these meals and getting the satisfaction of seeing my whole family enjoy their food.

Two thumbs up all the way.

It’s your lucky day as you can use the promo code SUPERFRESH to get R250 off your Daily Dish order. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
