[Review] Eau Thermale Avene Hydrating Serum

I’m sure you’ve also experienced that awkward moment when you have a facial and the therapist starts listing all the things wrong with your skin.

The most confusing thing to me is that my skin always seems dehydrated. I use a day and night moisturiser religiously, and am lucky to test different serums, plus I drinks LOADS of water, so I’m sure I’m doing a lot for my skin, yet I’m always told that my skin is dehydrated.

Hydrance Optimale – Hydrating Serum for Dehydrated Sensitive Skin

So this little bottle came at the perfect time for me to review. Firstly, it’s Winter, so my skin is in even more need of TLC, and secondly I’m off to Europe on holiday, and that plane trip doesn’t do anything good for your skin.

Where Does Avene come from?

The Avene thermal spring rises in Southern France, at the foot of the Cevennes Mountains, in the Orb Valley.

The thermal spring water has been used for centuries. Today, the Hydrotherapy Centre treats many patients with dermalogogical dis-orders where they benefit from the known properties of Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water Properties

The spring water is bacteriologically pure, with a pH close to neutral. It has a low mineral contact and incorporates essential trace elements of silica, leaving a thin softening and protecting  film on the skin.

The 22 day Hydration Test

I started using the serum a week before I left, and after 4 days I could already see a difference. My skin feels plumper and smoother.

The serum is not greasy at all, and absorbs extremely fast. After you’ve applied it you feel a slight film on your skin, and you can put your moisturiser and make up over it almost immediately.

I started using 3 pumps with every application, as directed, and my skin absorbed it very quickly. After about a week, I noticed that I only needed 2 pumps, so I presume my skin was more hydrated and didn’t need as much.

I really enjoyed adding this serum to my daily beauty routine and noticed that I also needed to use less of my day cream as well.

Big thumbs up for this hydration boosting serum. My skin felt smoother and plumper and it’s great for sensitive skin as well.
