[Review] Skin & Nail Lounge

Posted on by Nikki Temkin in Reviews, Spa Reviews

A while ago I reviewed a superb and award-winning salon which I often  frequent for facials and products called Professional Skin in Partktown North. Since then, I discovered that its brilliant owner Gina Gall has another salon in Bryanston.

Many years ago when I was struggling with breakouts on my forehead area, I has some microdermabrasion treatments. However, I had not experienced it for a very long time, until I was invited to Skin & Nail Lounge. Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.

This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discolouration, sun damage and even stretch marks. It’s sort of like an intense exfoliation— it removes the outer, superficial layer of skin cells. For someone like me, who suffers from dry skin and flaking, it’s extremely exciting to have it done.

Skin & Nail Lounge is a delightful salon which is very warm and welcoming yet professional. My skin was first cleansed with Lamelle Tripeptide Cleanser, then the microdermabrasion phase— which feels like a gentle exfoliation but that actually achieves much better results. After that, I was massaged with Lamelle Massage Cream. Talk about relaxing!

I was also given reflexology which is, if you read my reviews regularly, one of my absolute favourite things, My therapist mentioned any blockages that she found in my feet which also matched up with how I had been feeling physically. It’s always wonderful to receive reflexology from a therapist who understands how to be gentle but also effective at the same time.

I was  treated to the Lamelle Alginate Mask to encourage healing and soothing as well as hydration. The Sera products which I use on my skin are made by Lamelle so I know that they work as I have seen the results firsthand. My pale eyelashes and eyebrows were also given a lovely dark tint which lasted for weeks.

Doing microdermabrasion once results in an improvement but I aim to work this regularly into my beauty schedule for even better results. It’s a wonderful add-on to any of the top facials done here. Skin & Nail Lounge also offers manis and pedis as well as massage and all manner of beauty therapies in a lovely environment with top therapists. Give yourself a spoil and book in for a treatment.

Favourite Part

The softness and clarity of my skin after the treatment.

Least Favourite Part

Microdermabrasion is fairly painless so there really isn’t anything that causes discomfort.

As far as skin treatments go, microdermabrasion is one of the gentler and non-invasive treatments you can do that will still yield results. Whatever type of skin you have or what issues you are facing with your skin, it can definitely improve the texture, feel and appearance of your skin. Give it a try!
